Şireci Cotton

Workers at Şireci Cotton in Antep, rejected the factory management's offer of a monthly wage of 5000 TL and a 300 TL attendance bonus and started a wildcat strike on 5 February 2022 by not entering the factory during the night shift. After the start of the strike, the gendarmerie was massed in the factory yard. The next morning, in a meeting between the boss and the workers, the strike was ended by reaching an agreement that the monthly wage would be 5200 TL and Sunday shifts would be 450 TL. The Şireci Cotton strike was part of a wave of strikes in Antep in 2022, mainly in the ‘Weaving, garment and leather’ sector.
