Shag Rugs Carpet

Workers working as stringers at the Shag Rugs Carpet factory in Antep Başpınar Organised Industrial Zone, rejected the boss's offer of 5500 TL wages for 2022 and staged a wildcat strike demanding a monthly wage of 6000 TL. The workers ended the strike after the employer asked for three days. Afterwards, the wages of the tellers increased to 5750 TL. However, nearly 30 workers were fired in the following days. The Shag Rugs Carpet strike was part of a wave of strikes in Antep in 2022, mainly in the ‘Weaving, garment and leather’ sector.
