Angora Carpet workers in Antep Başpınar OIZ did not accept the raise offered by the boss and held a wildcat strike on 28 February 2022. After the boss announced that halves would be paid between 6100 and 6600 TL and wire workers between 5100 and 5,500 TL, halves demanded at least 7300 TL and wire workers demanded at least 6100 TL. After a one-day strike, the strike was concluded with the increase in the wages of wire workers to 5600 TL and the wages of halves to 6600 TL. The Angora Carpet strike was part of a wave of strikes that took place in Antep in 2022, mainly in the ‘Weaving, garment and leather’ sector.
