Public Health Institutions (May 17-18, 2022)

With the call of Hekim-Sen, Tabip-Sen and Hekim Birliği Union Union, wildcat strikes were held on May 17-18, 2022 at public health institutions in various cities across Turkey, demanding solutions to problems such as violence in health, low wages, medical malpractice and short appointment times. In addition to doctors, other health workers such as nurses and midwives participated in the strikes.
As far as we were able to ascertain from press and social media channels, the strike lasted for two days and took place in public health institutions in at least 40 cities, including Adana, Adıyaman, Afyon, Ankara, Antep, Antalya, Aksaray, Aydın, Balıkesir, Batman, Bitlis, Bursa, Çanakkale, Çankırı, Denizli, Dersim, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Giresun, Hatay, Isparta, İstanbul, İzmir, Karaman, Kırıkkale, Kocaeli, Malatya, Manisa, Mardin, Mersin, Maraş, Muğla, Ordu, Sakarya, Samsun, Sivas, Siirt, Tekirdağ, Urfa and Yalova. On May 5-6, 2022, a wildcat strikes was held in public health institutions with the same demands. The strike ended without any concrete gains.
