Public Health Institutions (May 5-6, 2022)

On May 5 and 6, 2022, with the call of Hekim-Sen, wildcat strikes were held in public health institutions in various cities across Turkey, demanding solutions to problems such as violence in health, low wages, medical malpractice and short appointment times. In addition to doctors, other health workers such as nurses and midwives participated in the strikes.

As far as we were able to ascertain from press and social media channels, the two-day strike took place in public health institutions in at least 22 cities, including Ankara, Balıkesir, Batman, Bitlis, Çanakkale, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Hatay, İstanbul, İzmir, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Mardin, Mersin, Osmaniye, Rize, Sakarya, Tekirdağ, Tokat and Urfa. The strike ended without any concrete gains.
