Family Health Centers (November 2024)

Physicians, nurses and midwives working in Family Health Centres carried out a wildcat strike between 5-7 November 2024, demanding the cancellation of the ‘Regulation on Family Medicine Contract and Payment’, which entered into force on 1 November 2024 despite their objections and which they described as a ‘torture regulation’, regulating their working and personal rights.

As far as we were able to determine from the press and social media channels, health workers in at least 42 cities including Adana, Adıyaman, Ankara, Antalya, Antep, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bartın, Batman, Bolu, Bursa, Çanakkale, Çankırı, Çorum, Dersim, Diyarbakır, Düzce, Edirne, Elazığ, Eskişehir, Giresun, Hatay, İstanbul, İzmir, Kayseri, Kırıkkale, Kırklareli, Kocaeli, Konya, Manisa, Mersin, Muğla, Nevşehir, Osmaniye, Ordu, Sakarya, Samsun, Siirt, Şırnak, Tekirdağ, Urfa and Van participated in the five-day strike. The strike ended without any concrete gains.

Family physicians had also held a wildcat strike on 17-18 February 2022 against the ‘Regulation on Family Medicine Contract and Payment’.
