Family Health Centers (December 2024)

Physicians, nurses and midwives working in family health centers went on a wildcat strike across Turkey between December 2, 2024 and December 6, 2024, demanding the annulment of the 'Regulation on Family Medicine Contract and Payment', which entered into force on November 1, 2024 and regulates their working and personal rights, which they describe as a 'torture regulation', and the withdrawal of the draft law presented in parliament.
As far as we were able to determine from press and social media channels, the strike lasted for five days and was attended by health workers in at least 45 cities, including Adana, Adıyaman, Afyon, Aksaray, Antalya, Ankara, Antep, Artvin, Aydın, Balıkesir, Batman, Bursa, Çankırı, Çanakkale, Denizli, Dersim, Diyarbakır, Edirne, Elazığ, Eskişehir, Giresun Hakkari, Hatay, Iğdır, İstanbul, İzmir, Karaman, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Konya, Kırşehir, Kırklareli, Manisa, Maraş, Mardin, Mersin, Muğla, Ordu Samsun, Siirt, Şırnak, Tekirdağ, Urfa, Uşak and Van.
