Boyar Chemistry

Workers at the Boyar Chemistry factory in Antep staged a wildcat strike on 17 February 2022 demanding a monthly wage of 6000 TL against the wage announced as 5400 TL. The workers also reacted against Öz İplik-İş Union, the authorised union in the workplace, for not conveying their demands to the boss, and started a strike despite the union. The workers waited in front of the factory for two shifts, during which time the police were massed in front of the factory and TOMAs were brought in. The strike ended with a victory on the same day as the workers' demands were accepted. The Boyar Chemistry strike was part of the wave of strikes that took place in Antep in 2022, mainly in the ‘Weaving, garment and leather’ sector.
