Aushra Socks

In Aushra Socks in Esenyurt district of Istanbul, workers started a wildcat strike on 3 February 2022 demanding a wage increase to 7,000 TL after the boss proposed a wage of 5,700 TL for 2022. As the strike continued despite the pressure, the boss gave the workers 3 days of paid vacation on the second day of the strike until Monday, 7 February. During the paid vacation, 18 workers' employment contracts were terminated by the boss without compensation. The dismissed workers started resistance in front of the factory on 7 February. The resistance in front of the factory continued until 10 February but ended without any gains.
The Aushra Socks strike was part of a wave of strikes in sock factories in the Beylikdüzü, Arnavutköy, Bayrampaşa, Güngören, İkitelli, Avcılar and Esenyurt districts of Istanbul. In these strikes, the Deriteks trade union contributed in a guiding and solidarity role.
