Yemek Sepeti

The Yemeksepeti Workers‘ Committee, formed by moto couriers working at Yemek Sepeti and trying for the union to gain collective bargaining authority in the workplace by becoming a member of the All Transport Workers’ Union (Tümtis) since 2021, called for a press statement in front of the company's headquarters on 1 February 2022. The demands of the committee were that the increased wages should be at least 5,500 TL net, that no worker seeking his/her rights should be dismissed, that the work branch should be corrected as transport, and that the authorisation determination lawsuit filed against the union's authorisation should be withdrawn. In a statement on social media on the night of 1 February, Nakliyat-İş union said that the Yemeksepeti Workers' Committee has no concrete relation with Yemeksepeti workers, that Tümtis has a total of 30 members in Manisa, Düzce and Yalova, and that the action to be held at 11:00 on Tuesday 1 February has nothing to do with Yemeksepeti workers in Istanbul.
On 1 February, moto couriers formed convoys in Istanbul and met in front of Yemeksepeti's headquarters in Esentepe for a press statement. After the press statement at 11.00am, Tümtis ended the action, but Yemeksepeti workers continued their wildcat strike and wait in front of the headquarters. Wildcat strikes were also organised in Ankara, Eskişehir and Antalya. Nakliyat-İş posted on Twitter around 11.00 a.m.: ‘Yemeksepeti Workers, members of our union, have started resistance by turning off the engine as moto courier and stopping work in valet, banabi warehouses in Ankara, Izmir, Eskişehir and other regions’. Following this statement, Nakliyat-İş started to support the wildcat strike of Yemeksepeti workers in Istanbul, Ankara, Eskişehir and Antalya. Tourism, Entertainment and Service Workers' Union (TEHIS) and Umut-Sen also gathered in front of the company headquarters to support the workers on wildcat strike. Yemeksepeti Workers' Committee and Tümtis, on the other hand, called for work slowdowns in branches for the days after 1 February. Afterwards, various actions and events were held in support of Yemeksepeti workers' demands, but the strike continued until 10 February 2024. In the following days, actions such as press releases, convoys and shutdowns continued until the end of March. There were also public calls for a boycott. However, no gains were achieved as a result of the strike.
