TUPRAS Aliaga Refinery

Upon hearing the news that TÜPRAŞ had decided to lay off 88 workers at its Aliağa, Kırıkkale, Kocaeli and Batman plants, 27 of them at the Aliağa plant, workers at the Aliağa Refinery started a wildcat strike by occupying the workplace on May 28, 2022. Petrol-İş, of which the workers were members, did not support the strike. With the intervention of the branch, the occupation of the workplace and the strike were ended on May 30 and it was decided to “start resistance in front of the refinery”. On June 2, after negotiations between Koç Holding and Petrol-İş Union Headquarters and Aliağa Branch Management, the resistance was also ended on the morning of June 3. It was stated that Koç Holding representatives reduced the number of workers for Aliağa from 27 to 22 and then to 14 and said “if you don't accept this, you will lose this offer as well”.
