Workers at TPI Composite's two factories in the Menemen and Çiğli districts of Izmir started a wildcat strike on July 6, 2022, demanding an additional wage increase, as the wages stipulated in the collective bargaining agreement between the union and the company management in 2021 were not enough to live on in the face of high inflation. After more than 60 workers were dismissed during the strike, the demands included the reinstatement of the dismissed workers. The strike ended on July 22nd with the acceptance of the demands for an additional 15% raise over the rate specified in the collective bargaining agreement, the reinstatement of the dismissed workers, and no deduction of wages for days not worked.
