Public Health Institutions (May 26-27, 2022)

With the call of Hekim-Sen, Tabip-Sen and Hekim Birliği Union Union, wildcat strikes were held on May 26-27, 2022 at public health institutions in various cities across Turkey, demanding solutions to problems such as violence in health, low wages, malpractice and short appointment times. In addition to doctors, other health workers such as nurses and midwives participated in the strikes.

As far as we were able to ascertain from press and social media channels, the two-day strike took place in public health institutions in at least 22 cities, including Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Denizli, Eskişehir, Isparta, İstanbul, İzmir, Kars, Kayseri, Malatya, Maraş, Muğla, Osmaniye, Samsun, Sinop, Şırnak, Tekirdağ, Trabzon and Urfa. Wildcat strikes were also held in public health institutions on May 5-8 and May 17-18, 2022 with the same demands. The strikes ended without any concrete gains.
