Workers at the Kartal Carpet factory in Antep rejected the wage increase and started a wildcat strike on 4 February 2022. After the boss asked for a few days of time from the workers, the workers ended the strike and went back to work. While the workers‘ demand was 6,500 TL monthly wage + 400 TL continuity premium for journeymen and 5,500 TL monthly wage + 400 TL continuity premium for wire workers, days later, the workers’ wages were increased by an additional 150 TL on average. Workers' wages became 6,250 TL monthly wage + 250 TL continuity premium for journeymen and 5,250 TL monthly wage + 250 TL continuity premium for wire workers. The Kartal Halı strike was part of a wave of strikes that took place in Antep in 2022, mainly in the ‘Weaving, garment and leather’ sector.
