Durkar Carpet

Workers in the carpet department of the Durkar Carpet Factory in Antep started a wildcat strike on 10 February 2022 demanding a wage increase. On 11 February 2022, workers working in the morning shift in the spinning department of the factory started wildcat strike demanding that their wages be increased to 5500 TL after their wages were paid as 5075 TL. Later, the 4-12 shift and the night shift also joined the strike. The strike was ended after the factory manager promised to make an agreement with the workers, stating that they would research the market and make an assessment. The Durkar Carpet strike was part of a wave of strikes in Antep in 2022, mainly in the ‘Weaving, garment and leather’ sector.
