Darinda Socks

On 8 February 2022, workers at the Darinda Socks factory in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul, started a wildcat strike by stopping production demanding that female desk workers be paid at least 6000 TL and ironing workers be paid at least 6500 TL. The strike ended when the boss fired the striking workers on the same day without compensation and the workers left the factory. After the firing of the workers, with the call of Tekstil-İş Union, the workers and those who came in solidarity with the workers met in front of the factory on 9 February and 11 February and held protests. However, the strike ended without any gains.
The Darinda Socks strike is part of a wave of strikes in sock factories in Beylikdüzü, Arnavutköy, Bayrampaşa, Güngören, İkitelli, Avcılar and Esenyurt districts of Istanbul.
