Çelik Socks

Workers at Çelik Socks factory in Bayrampaşa started a wildcat strike on 7 February 2022, demanding 6650 TL wages, shuttle service and a bonus equal to one salary, after the negotiations with the boss on wages were inconclusive. The strike ended without the workers' demands being accepted, as the boss reported the workers and threatened them with dismissal.
The Çelik Socks strike was part of a wave of strikes in sock factories in Beylikdüzü, Arnavutköy, Bayrampaşa, Güngören, İkitelli, Avcılar and Esenyurt districts of Istanbul. In these strikes, the Deriteks trade union has contributed at the level of guidance and solidarity.
