Alpin Socks

Workers at Alpin Socks in Istanbul Beylikdüzü Organised Industrial Zone started a wildcat strike by shutting down the machines, because the raise rates announced on 1 February 2022 were far below their expectations. Workers in two other shifts joined the strike that started at around 3 pm. The workers demanded a minimum raise of 2500 TL and that none of their colleagues be dismissed. Lasting until 2 February, the strike resulted in a victory. After a meeting with the boss representative, all workers were given a 2500 TL raise. During the meeting, the workers who participated in the strike were guaranteed that they would not be fired. The Alpin Socks strike was the first strike in a wave of strikes in sock factories in Beylikdüzü, Arnavutköy, Bayrampaşa, Güngören, İkitelli, Avcılar and Esenyurt districts of Istanbul. In these strikes, the Deriteks trade union contributed in a guiding and solidarity role.
