Akkurt Mining

On the morning of 22 April 2024, mine workers working in the coal mine of Akkurt Mining in Kilimli district of Zonguldak started a wildcat strike demanding a reduction in their working hours from 6 hours and 15 minutes to 5 days. The workers, who conveyed their demands to the boss, refused to enter the quarry when a compromise could not be reached.

As a result of the negotiations between a group of 5 people selected among the workers and the company managers, the strike was ended on the same day after an agreement was reached to reduce the working time from 7.5 hours a day to 5 days a week.
